On 31 January the “Project of Improvement of the Regional Economies and Local Development” has been completed, after four years of Technical Assistance implemented by the consortium led by Eptisa (formed by Eptisa, AENOR, ATECOR and the UPM). The project's purpose was to support the institutional strategy aimed to the rapprochement of technologies to SME from the beneficiary regions of Northeast and Northwest. The project has promoted the availability of advanced technologies for the most disadvantaged regions of the country, increasing the presence of the National Institute of Industrial Technologies (INTI) and implementing lines of action helping to solve communitarian problems and in such way contribute to a social transformation with equity.

The set of activities scheduled for the identified sectors (renewable energy and clean technologies, tanneries, textile, alimentation, water quality, mechanical industries, virtual networks, and technologic perspective) have contributed to improve the competitiveness of SMEs in the regions, offering adequate services to the needs and characteristics of local companies that will contribute to make them more competitive in the national and international area.

Technical Assistance, for its part, has contributed to enhance the good execution of the actions included in the project to reach its general and specific objectives, through training, counseling, education, and awareness’ workshops dealing with a wide scope of topics from the different sectors.
