Closing Ceremony of "Students learning about the EU" Project in Turkey was successfully completed

The project, which was implemented between December 2014 and December 2016 by Eptisa, involved many activities like quiz, painting, and short-story competitions that will help raise awareness on the EU

With its full name "Technical Assistance for Students Learning about the EU Common Values, Fundamental Rights and policies", this project, which was initiated under the responsibility of General Directorate of European Union and Foreign Relations on 25 December 2014, has come to an end. The project, with a budget of 3,256,000 Euros, has been funded by the 2011 IPA-I Programme within the scope of financial cooperation of Republic of Turkey and European Union, having the Ministry of National Education as the beneficiary.

As the latest event of the Project, a Closing Ceremony took place on the 9th of December at Grand Ankara (Rixos) Hotel. Opening speeches of the ceremony were delivered by Deputy Minister of National Education Orhan Erdem, Deputy Minister for EU Affairs Ali Şahin, EU-Turkey Delegation, Head of Economic and Social Development Counsellor François Begeot, General Director of DG for EU and Foreign Affairs, Funda Kocabıyık, and Head of Central Finance and Contracting Unit Emine Döğer.

Funda Kocabıyık stated that approximately 33 thousand secondary school students attended to the slogan, painting, short-story and quiz competitions from 81 provinces within the scope of this project implemented by Eptisa. Considering the preliminary and post surveys, these student’s families and also Ministry of National Education personnel that took part in the activities, it could be said that the project has reached out almost 150 thousand people during its implementation period. Therefore, "Students Learning about the EU" Project raised the knowledge and awareness of students (aged between 10 and 18) on EU values, fundamental rights and policies through effective educational measures.

Following the opening speeches, the Technical Assistance Team presented project achievements and results together with the two years story of the implementation, spot films and the trailer of 20 training videos which are produced within the scope of the project. The ceremony ended with Sema Ceremony and photo shooting.


 
 Closing Ceremony of
