The Spanish energy company, Gas Natural Fenosa, awarded Eptisa a new contract to perform preventive and corrective maintenance of automated auscultation systems in 19 dams and a channel, located in the provinces of Ourense, Lugo , Pontevedra, A Coruña, Guadalajara, Toledo and Segovia, for a period of five years.

The automated control will be carried out using information from about 600 sensors on a wide typology of dams such as gravity, arch or vault, among others. And related to the geometric characterization, includes dams with over 100 meters of height and others with a length of coronation over 500 m.

The project aims to carry out an inventory of all facilities and the implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance of sensors, automatic data acquisition, computer hardware, software SCADA, communication and data transmission systems, power systems and systems for the protection of electrical outlets for all devices.

Since 2009, Gas Natural Fenosa has automated auscultation systems and fibre optic communications in all its dams, which was also implemented by Eptisa. This technological challenge represents a milestone in the field of auscultation of dams in Spain, since electronic traditional devices have been replaced by a new philosophy of industrial automation based on the use of PLC.
