Eptisa expands its activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a project related to the management of water resources

This assignment, financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), will contribute to the development of an optimal management system for multi-purpose reservoirs in the river basins of Neretva and Trebisnjica

The project “Development of a Model for Hydrological Predictions, Forecasting, and Decision-making, and Preparation of a Plan, Guidelines, and Training Program for the Optimal Management of Multi-purpose Reservoirs in the River Basins of Neretva and Trebisnjica”, awarded to Eptisa, is funded from a grant from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) managed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and has an allocated budget of almost 600,000 USD.

The intervention aims at strengthening the integrated management of water resources in Bosnia, in accordance with the EU Water Framework Directive. In particular, the project will focus on supporting the management of the river basins Neretva and Trebisnjica by the provision of decision support instruments and guidelines to achieve the maximum economic effects in respect to the operational rules and constrains of hydropower plants (HPPs) in various hydrological conditions.

During 18 months, a team of experts of Eptisa will provide technical advice in developing and implementing mathematical models for hydrological predictions, operational rules for HPPs, forecasting and deciding, and making of the plan, guidelines and training program for optimal management of multi-purpose reservoirs of hydro-power plants.
