Eptisa has awarded a new technical assistance project to contribute to the peace-building and development in Colombia

Eptisa continues with the work of the prestigious Colombia’s “Peace Laboratories” and will work in new areas

The aim of the project titled “Technical Assistance to the New Zones of Peace in Colombia” is to contribute to the peace-building and development in Colombia. Through the promotion of territorial conditions will be helped a culture of peace, democracy and State of Law, that promotes conditions of decent life and development opportunities to all citizens.

Eptisa has been chosen by the European Union and Presidential Agency for Social Action and International Cooperation of Colombia as leader company of the consortium formed by three local entities that have taken an active part in the peace building in this Latin-American country: Codhes, Fundación Antonio Restrepo Barco and Redepaz.

The consortium lead by Eptisa will concentrate its efforts in the promotion of initiatives for peace-building that tend to reduce the economic inequality and to mitigate the effects of the political-social violence, through the promotion of a territorial economical and social development based on the principles of participation and democratic government in regions of: Bajo Magdalena, Canal del Dique, Departamento del Caquetá and Guaviare.

The New Zones of Peace Program expects to establish a bridge between the initiatives of development and peace, such as movements leaded by the civil society that has promote a culture of peace and the pacific resolution of conflicts, and the integral policies of territorial development.

The Project will start on January 2012 and will have 4 years of duration.
