Eptisa has been awarded a new contract in Turkey to provide technical assistance and supervision for the Bartin Water and Wastewater Project

The project is aimed to strengthen the capacities of the Bartin Municipality and supervise the construction of the WWTP

The purpose of the contract is to provide Technical Assistance to Bartin Municipality and the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) through administrative, financial and technical capacity building, assisting the Municipality in operating an efficient water and wastewater department (Water Utility Department) and to supervise the construction of Bartin WWTP and the wastewater collection, preliminary treatment and sea outfall in İnkumu (Works Contract-1) and rehabilitation of the existing water supply and distribution system (Works Contract-2).

Within the scope this Project, Eptisa will provide services for the implementation of following tasks:

  • Administrative, technical and financial capacity building for the Water Utility Department of the Municipality;
  • Modernization of the Water Utility Department and provision of the necessary training and support for institutional sustainability;
  • Technical Assistance to WUD/PIU in performance of mapping, GIS, hydraulic modeling, leakage detection etc.;
  • Contract management and construction supervision for the implementation of Bartın WWTP and the wastewater collection, preliminary treatment, sea outfall in İnkumu and existing water supply and distribution system;
  • Review and update of supply tender documents and technical assistance during tendering and contracting;
  • Review of design and tender dossier for rehabilitation of existing water supply and distribution system;
  • Development of programme to monitor industrial discharges to the public sewerage network to facilitate the enforcement by the Provincial Directorate of Environment on industries.

The commencement date of the project, which is funded by national and European Union funds as part of the IPA Programme in Turkey, is August 2016 and will be implemented for 29 months.
