February 02, 2016

The Bac Giang Clean Water Joint Stock Company has awarded Eptisa a new project financed by the Asian Development Bank in Vietnam to increase the water supply coverage in the city of Bac Giang.

The project will support the Construction of the Water Treatment Plant Number 2 which will expand the clean water supply system reducing the gap between the existing coverage and the government’s target, meeting the demand target of 99% for urban residents and 80% for sub-urban residents by 2025.

The project includes intake structures (raw water pumping station and pre-sedimentation pond) in Song Mai commune; a Drinking Water Treatment Plant (DWTP) with a capacity of 25,000 m3/day, which will be built in Quang Phuc; and transmission systems and distribution pipes in the city of Bac Giang. The existing and the new plants will be connected by the 2 existing pipelines situated in the railway crossing of the Thuong River, ensuring clean water supply for the city of Bac Giang.

The new DWTP will supply clean water to residential and sub-urban areas including newly merged communes as well as industrial zones.

Eptisa will carry out the Detailed Design of the facilities, prepare the bidding documents, and provide procurement support to Bac Giang WASECO during the tendering procedure. Eptisa will also review and update the environmental aspects of the project, the Gender Action Plan and the Resettlement Plan according to ADB guidelines.

The project, which has started in January 2016, aims to be completed in 9 months.

This is one of the 18 ADB projects Eptisa is successfully implementing and a new milestone in our consolidation process in the Southeast Asian region, where Eptisa has a total of 7 projects. This is also Eptisa’s second project in Vietnam, following the successful completion of the "Coastal Cities Environmental Sanitation Project in the City of Dong Hoi" in 2014, financed by the World Bank, and for which Eptisa has received a Merit Certificate for "Achieving the Excellence in the Implementation".
