The project is aimed to improve urban services in the towns of Huoayxay and Luang Namtha

November 10 2016

The Department of Housing and Urban Planning, under the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Lao People's Democratic Republic, has awarded Eptisa a new contract to provide project management and implementation support, detailed design, construction supervision of civil works and capacity building within the Second Greater Mekong Subregion Corridor Towns Development Project, funded by the Asian Development Bank.

The development project proposed is aimed to improve urban services in the two towns of Huoayxay and Luang Namtha. The project will contribute to maintaining economic growth, achieving poverty reduction targets, ensuring sustainable development and supporting regional integration in line with the National Socio-Economic Development Plan, 2010-2015.

During the implementation of this contract, which will last until May 2021, the consortium led by Eptisa will achieve the following outputs: development of Strategic Local Economic Development Plans (SLEDPs); priority urban infrastructure investments implemented; institutional capacities for managing public investments strengthened; and community awareness on project activities and environmental sustainability improved.

The capacity building services will be focused on three key areas: Implementation and operations and maintenance for project investments, sustainable livelihoods development and community awareness and refinement and implementation of SLEDPs.

This is the third project implemented in Lao by Eptisa under ADB funding. We deeply believe that our international experience combined with our local approach will continue bringing new achievements to Eptisa in the near future.
