July 10 2014

The Spanish state company “Sociedad Estatal de Infraestructuras Agrarias” (SEIASA) has awarded the consortium formed by Eptisa and DINTRAS 5 a contract to provide technical assistance and support to the project management of the project “Improvement and strengthening of the irrigations of the El Fresno Irrigation Community in Huelva. Phase I and II”.

The overall objective of this contract is the construction of all hydraulic infrastructures in order to replace the underground source of the Almonte-Marismas Aquifer which is used today, by other of surface origin from the reservoir system Chanza-Piedras. Thus the pressure over the hydro-geologic system that determines the natural wealth of Doñana will be eliminated. This new water supply network will be made up 38 km of pipes with different diameters and will irrigate 30 groups and 152 plots, a total area of 858 hectares.

This project includes all works related to electrical installations, whose substation will be connected to the power line Torrearenillas. It will also include the construction of the irrigation networks, a pumping station to pump the water from the Lucena del Puerto regulating pond to the hydrant network and plots. In addition, a remote control network will be installed to monitor and control the hydrant valves, as well as reading the respective meters and the operation of the pumping station to allow remote actuations from the control centre.

The two stages of this project cofunded by FEDER and SEIASA funds are under execution by the company TRAGSA. The project will last 20 months and is planned to invest over EUR 18.7 million.
