Eptisa provides technical assistance to the technical office for dismantling of Nuclear Power Plant in Guadalajara

The Spanish public company, Enresa, once again has chosen Eptisa to carry out the technical assistance for the dismantling of the José Cabrera Nuclear Power Plant, where currently it’s responsible for the supervision of the civil works.

During this new project, Eptisa will carry out the Project Management (monitoring of costs and terms) of all the dismantling of the Nuclear Power Plant as well as the control and coordination of the technical documents, including the updating of the Dismantling Management and Project Management Systems, key systems along the implementation.

The José Cabrera Nuclear Power Plant is located in the municipality of Almonacid de Zorita (Guadalajara) and began its operation in 1968 with a pressurized water reactor (PWR) with a 160 MW gross power.

In 2006 started the previous tasks to carry out the dismantling project and its finalization is scheduled to 2015. The tasks will include the dismantling of buildings, the disassembly of major components, decontamination tasks, the transfer of radioactive and conventional wastes and declassified materials, landfill and the environmental restoration of the site.
