Eptisa strengthens civil protection in the ENPI East region

The programme will focus on natural and man-made disasters with special emphasis on the ones identified as priorities in the region

Eptisa, has been awarded with the "Programme for the Prevention, Preparedness and Response to man-made and natural disasters in the ENPI East Region (PPRD-East)", in consortium with Parsons Brickerhoff (UK), ICET (NL), ITC (NL), PJSC GIRHIMPROM (Ukraine) and REC Caucasus (Georgia).

The programme has a budget and of 5,988,000 Euro and will cover Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The overall objective of this project is to contribute to the peace, stability, security and prosperity of the Eastern Partner Countries and to protect the environment, the population, the cultural heritage, the resources and the infrastructures of the region by strengthening the countries' resilience, preparedness and response to man-made and natural disasters.

The programme mainly focuses on natural and man-made disasters identified as a priority in the ENPI East region such as seismic risks, hydro-geological events, forest and ground fires, urban/industrial disasters, road accidents and disasters caused by extreme meteorological conditions.

The two specific goals of this contract are:

  • The development of the Partner Countries' civil protection capacities for disaster prevention, preparedness and response.
  • To progressively bring the Partner Countries closer to the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and improve the cooperation among themselves.

The programme will tackle all levels of preparation, preparedness and mitigation, and response management, to achieve i) an improved knowledge base concerning the current state of play, ii) a strengthened prevention, preparedness capacities and response (from the administrative, operational and legislative perspectives), iii) and increased information and awareness.

This is Eptisa's second regional project which consolidates Eptisa's presence and position in the ENPI East region, and makes us the leading European company working on EU regional projects in the area of civil protection, prevention, preparedness and response to natural and man-made disasters.
