Eptisa will assist the Project Management Unit of Building Climate Resilience in the Pyanj River Basin Project in Tajikistan

This project, that will last 39 months, is aimed to increase resilience to climate vulnerability and change of communities in the Pyanj River

Eptisa has been awarded its second project in Tajikistan financed by Asian Development Bank, which is focused on increasing resilience to climate vulnerability and change of communities in the Pyanj River.

This project, which will be implemented for 39 months, has two main components. On the one hand it is aimed to develop more resilient flood protection systems comprising rehabilitation of small scale flood management infrastructure, and capacity building of disaster management committees. And on the other, develop more resilient irrigation systems comprising rehabilitation of small scale irrigation infrastructure, and capacity building of water user associations.

Eptisa will support the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan (ALRI) during the assignment with different implementation support activities, such as reviewing submitted detailed designs with the Project Management Unit (PMU) of Building Climate Resilience in the Pyanj River Basin Project; advising and assisting the PMU in preparing tender documents and assist in technical evaluations of tenders as appropriate; designing training programs for PMU personnel on design of adaptation measures, procurement and project management and deliver them; developing Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manual for the infrastructure under the project.

Eptisa will also carry out several activities such as the application of climate resilience principles; social safeguards and gender sensitivities; monitoring and evaluation; procurement management; detailed design of civil engineering; drafting terms of reference for drip irrigation and pumping station works in various districts of Tajikistan; environmental management; supervision of construction works; financial management; and subcontracting of NGOs.
