Eptisa will carry out the construction management of the water supply infrastructure in Huelva county and Doñana National Park surroundings

More than 19 km. of pipe will allow increasing the supply to the municipalities of the "El Condado de Huelva" region and to reduce the extraction from the Almonte-Marismas aquifer to irrigation

December 13 2011

The Environment and Water Agency of Andalucía has awarded Eptisa a new contract titled "Services for construction management for water supply infrastructures to El Condado de Huelva and Doñana surroundings" with an investment of € 15.64 million and 22 months of execution.

This project aims to provide with the necessary infrastructures to carry out the water supply of 4.99 cubic hectometres of water from the Chanzas-Piedra to the Guadalquivir River. These improvements will make it possible, on the one hand, to increase the guarantee of the urban water supply to the municipalities of the El Condado de Huelva region (nowadays with a population of 81,000 people), and the other hand, to reduce the extraction of water from the Almonte-Marismas aquifer to irrigation.

The works include the construction of more than 19 kilometres of pipe. This will connect the "Lucena del Puerto" regulation pond with a new pumping station, which will impel the water until another regulation pond that will be constructed in "Rociana del Condado" to supply irrigation water, with a capacity of 100.000 m3. From there, and with the help of another pumping station, the water will be channelled to the Drinking Water Treatment Plant of La Palma del Condado to supply drinking water to the population.

Eptisa, in Joint Venture with Attec Consultores de Ingeniería Civil, will be the Construction Manager.
