Eptisa will carry out the Sanitation and Drainage Master Plan of the right bank of the Guadalmedina River in Malaga, Spain

The project will last 11 months and cover approximately 1,600 hectares

October 27 2014

Eptisa, in consortium with the Spanish company “Estudio 7”, has been awarded a new contract to carry out the Sanitation and Drainage Master Plan of the right bank of the Guadalmedina River.

During 11 months, Eptisa will carry out the preliminary design including all actions and needed infrastructures related to sanitation and drainage. This has to be done in order to guarantee an appropriate service of the system in terms of flood protection and its adaptation to comply with current waste regulations.

The scope of the study includes all the right bank of the Guadalmedina River downstream of Limonero reservoir. This catchment area covers approximately 1,600 hectares including both undeveloped land and urban area. Within the urban area the system is 250 km long, including collectors, channelling and vaults, with corresponding wells and inspection hatches, reaching 9,500 units.

Due to the nature and needs of the study, a hydrological analysis of the left bank will also be carried out in order to measure the volume of discharge into the Guadalmedina River.

The main stages for the development of the works are the following:

  • Updating of the GIS of the Malaga’s city water operator (EMASA) and performing of Colletors Reports
  • Definition of the hydraulic model and analysis of the current situation
  • Alternatives Study
  • Selection of the final alternative
  • Preparation of the Master Plan
