The project will cover approximately 300 km of the water distribution system and 200 km of the sewerage system

Eptisa has been awarded with a new contract to carry out the supply and installation of a Network Information System based on Geographical Information System (GIS) for the water supply system of Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan during 10 months.

The aim of this project is to improve the accessibility, quality and efficiency of local infrastructure services provided to the population of Bishkek novostroikas in order to improve the living conditions and facilitate the socio-economic integration into the urban community.

Eptisa will develop a Network Information System (NIS) based on GIS to improve operations of the water utility of the city. The Bishkek Vodokanal (BVK) will be the final beneficiary, which currently operates within the services for potable water supply for population, companies and institutions in Bishkek, collection and treatment of wastewater, as well other works related to the main sphere of activities. And BVK performances as a client for design and construction, rehabilitation and upgrading of water supply and sanitation facilities and their operation.

The water supply asset inventory will cover approximately 300 km of the water distribution system and 10 km of water transmission mains, as well as approximately 200 km of the sewerage system. In addition to the networks, the survey will cover manholes, valves, pressure reducers, pumps and pumping stations, chambers, gates, switches, hydrants, unregistered connections within all novostroika’s area that are not mapped, and borehole supplying districts. It will also be conducted a GPS survey to capture unregistered assets such as water distribution pipelines in all novostroika’s to enhance the accuracy of the map element locations. Eptisa will train GIS operators and BKV staff covering all aspects of this NIS/GIS.

Eptisa together with BVK supporting staff will supply and install and set up the NIS/GIS system that is interfaced with the current asset register and billing register.

This investment is expected to benefit novostroikas, as well as other areas of the city, by improving the way the water system is managed.
