The Asian Development Bank awarded Eptisa a new project to provide Project Preparatory Technical Assistance (PPTA) for the Water Resources Management (WRM) in the Pyanj River Basin in Tajikistan. The objective is to design a stand-alone grant investment project for increased farm incomes in the Chubek Irrigation System (CIS) area in Pyanj River basin (PRB).

The project aims at increasing the agricultural water productivity. The main outputs of the project will be the following: Improvement of the Water Resources Management capacity in PRB, modernization of the water infrastructures and climate-proofed, increase of the farm management and water use capacities and an efficient and effective project management.

During 10 months, Eptisa will assess agricultural and irrigation performance of CIS and diagnose constraints, review the climate change risk (CCR) and vulnerability and adaptation (CRVA) assessments, improve the capacity of key stakeholders including the Agency on Land Reclamation and Irrigation (ALRI), Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MEWR), Water Users Associations (WUAs), irrigation O&M.

Furthermore, Eptisa will be responsible of the topographic and geotechnical surveys, the feasibility study of proposed improvement of CIS, the institutional arrangement of WRMs of PRB and CIS, the agricultural extension arrangements, the due diligence and project safeguard arrangements and the formulate investment packages.
