Eptisa will provide Technical Assistance services to the Integrated and Sustainable Community Development Programme in Egypt

The project will be implemented for 42 months and will focus on the sustainable community development of metropolitan areas in Egypt

April 13 2015

The European Investment Bank has awarded the contract to Eptisa, in consortium with the Danish company Grontmij A/S, the Egyptian Chemonics Egypt Consultants and VNG International (Netherland).

Community Development (CD) in Egypt represents a range of environmental, social and economic activities, incorporating housing, employment and local services / infrastructures components. These are also objectives of the European Commission for supporting the Egyptian administration – through a focus on improving the standard of living in Egypt within the priorities of improved affordable housing and employment generation.

The aim of the TA operation is to contribute to improvement in the quality of shelter and more general enhancement in living conditions for the urban poor, and the creation of employment opportunities for the latter. Although the focus is primarily urban, other spatially disadvantaged communities are not excluded.

The TA will contribute to the timely and efficient implementation of the ISCD Programme by supporting the establishment and operations of a Project Preparation and Implementation Unit (PPIU) embedded within the Egyptian Social Fund for Development (beneficiary institution), to oversee the preparation and finalization of the ISCDP investment programme.

The consortium led by Grontmij A/S will implement the project during 42 months, from February 2015 to July 2018.
