The Andalusian Water Agency has awarded Eptisa, in Joint Venture with Ingeniería Centro y Cálculo, a new technical assistance project to the construction management, quality control, and health and safety of the works carried out in Negratin dam "Improvement of the functionality of the spillway, recovery of the 618 gallery and consolidation of buttresses" with 20 months of duration.

The Negratin dam is 75 m. height over foundations, 10 m of weight and 438.8 m. long in crowing point with a total volume of 628,447 m3.

The dam is situated over the Guadiana Menor River, immediately upstream of the mouth of Baúl stream. The Guadiana Menor River flows 69 km. downstream, without any dam until its confluence with the Guadalquivir River, at the end of the Doña Aldonza dam. The municipalities close to it are Freila, Zújar and Cuevas del Campo (Granada).

Its aim is to regulate the Guadiana Menor River, as well as the irrigation of 25,000 ha. in Jaen, Cordoba and Seville provinces, 36,000 ha in Hoya de Baza (Granada) and 5,000 ha. in the province of Almeria. It will be also used to the production of electricity.
