Eptisa will provide technical assistance to the Port Authority of A Coruña for improving the new port facilities at Punta Langosteira in Spain

The Port Authority of A Coruña has awarded Eptisa a new technical assistance contract to carry out the monitoring of the execution of works during the construction of a gallery for the protection of pipes in the dam of the new port facilities at Punta Langosteira in Arteixo.

For 20 months Eptisa will provide technical assistance services to the project management, quality and quantity control of works performed and the supervision and monitoring of construction procedures and Environmental Control Plan. In addition, Eptisa will conduct the review of the project design, supervision and monitoring of the Quality Control Plan and structural modeling.

The main objective of the works is the construction of a gallery for the protection of pipelines taking liquid bulk in the outer harbor of A Coruña, from the actions produced by wave overtopping on them.

The gallery will be an arcaded structure composed of a crowning slab supported on 537 pillars of about 10 m high which will be supported on a foundation slab, and it will consist of 47 modules of varying lengths including a dilatation joint among them.

In addition to the gallery, it will also be carried out the construction of an edge piece to protect the inner slope of the overflowing and the joint between the shoulder and the gallery. It is planned to place about 12,919 tons of steel and 90,000 m3 of concrete.
