Eptisa has been awarded the technical assistance to the Support to the Ministry of Trade and Industry Programme in Haiti, financed by the European Union under the 10th FED. The Programme has two key elements: one focused in the strengthening of MTI’s capacities, executed by the Ministry supported by the technical assistance team; and a second element focused in Haiti’s competitiveness, executed by the UNIDO and the Centre for the Enterprise’s Development.

The main goal of the programme which this contract is part of is to improve the country’s integration into the regional and international exchange dynamic, as well as to capitalize on this integration in favour of the sustainable growth of its economy.

Eptisa will provide technical assistance to the MTI in order to strengthen its institutional capacities when it comes to analyzing, formulating and implementing trade, industrial and competitiveness policies. It will also consolidate the coordination between public and private stakeholders and will ensure the coordination and implementation of the different trade agreements and commitments. A special attention will be given to come to an agreement for the consolidation of a communication strategy within the Ministry. Eptisa will support the MTI, the National Authorising Officer as well as the Delegation of the European Union in the management and implementation of the programme as a whole.

The direct beneficiaries of the project are the MTI, as well as other ministries and semi-public bodies (especially the Office for Trade Agreement Coordination and Follow-up – BCS) involved in the legislative and administrative regulation and management of the industrial and trade activities. The indirect beneficiaries of the private production sector are companies of both the formal and informal sector (especially those whose activity is focused on exporting), organisations representing the private sector, producer associations, or providers of professional services for the production sector.
