Environmental Restoration Project for the Fosfoyesos Piles.

EPTISA is leading the environmental restoration of 720 hectares of phosphogypsum piles in the city of Huelva, an action of great technical complexity and high ecological value.

The project includes:
  • Top and perimeter sealing of stacks to prevent emissions and leaks.
  • Drainage system with collector rings to control leachate and runoff.
  • Perimeter breakwater protection against risks such as floods, extreme tides or tsunamis.
  • Landscape recovery of the surroundings, facilitating the integration of the restored space in the natural environment of the Odiel Marshes, an area of high environmental value.

Current phase:

EPTISA is currently in charge of the Project Management of the works, the execution of which is planned to take ten years, making it one of the most important environmental interventions in Spain.

Impact:

This project sets a precedent in the restoration of degraded industrial areas, contributing significantly to the protection of coastal ecosystems, environmental safety and the improvement of the urban and natural landscape of Huelva.
