Improvement of Water-Communal Infrastructure in Rijeka Agglomeration Area

Supervision of the WWTP Works

The objective of the project is to provide supervision services for the execution of the contract for the design and construction of the new Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Rijeka, with a capacity of 200,000 population equivalent, and second grade treatment, within the framework of the project for the improvement of the water infrastructure in the Rijeka agglomeration.

Purpose:
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of investments through expert supervision of the design, construction, commissioning and initial operation of the new WWTP.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements (FIDIC Yellow Book), Croatian regulations and EU legislation.
Scope of work:
  • Supervision of the design, permitting, construction, testing, commissioning, start-up, trial operation, technical inspection and decommissioning of the old WWTP.
  • Training of customer personnel and validation of functional parameters and guaranteed operating costs.
  • Control of contractor documentation and compliance with subcontracting.
  • Coordination of occupational safety measures and environmental obligations.
  • Follow-up of deadlines and organization of periodic meetings with drafting of minutes.
  • Fulfillment of the duties of the “Engineer” according to FIDIC Yellow Book and of the “Supervising Engineer” according to Croatian legislation.

Impact:

This intervention contributes significantly to the environmental sustainability of Rijeka’s urban environment, ensuring more efficient, safer water treatment in compliance with European standards.
