The purpose of this project is to define the necessary actions for the improvement of the infrastructure and track of the section between Montefurado station and Monforte de Lemos station, belonging to the León – A Coruña line, in a length of more than 40 kilometers.

The contract seeks to solve recurring problems affecting the operation and increase of freight traffic, improving the reliability and capacity of the line.

Scope of the project:

• Track replacement and improvement: rail, sleepers and ballast.
• Optimization of the railway route.
• Execution of earthworks and drainage.
• Revision and adaptation of existing structures and tunnels.
• Widening of all structures and tunnels to comply with the AF-4.0 railroad highway gauge.

Project Impact:

The intervention will increase the operational efficiency of a strategic line for rail freight transport in the northwest of the peninsula, improving safety, reducing maintenance costs and preparing the infrastructure for larger and higher volume traffic.
